Why we are unlike?

We believe that creativity, innovation and community involvement, are a catalyst for better business. We’re not just passionate purveyors of Recycled handmade products, but everything else that goes with a deep community engagement. That’s the essence of what we will do – but it hardly tells the whole story.

The entire production process is Eco-friendly and labor intensive using solid waste materials inputs as raw materials. Since our idea has taken a root with an Eco-theme, there was no hype on environmental issues as observed today. Monthly we consume three (03) metric tons of solid waste such as plastic, e-waste, glass, woods and clothing accumulated within Kandy city boundaries as raw materials for our production. Kandy Municipal Council does a good job in collecting and segregating waste very well while providing us necessary support for sourcing of solid waste materials for our production. However the manufacturing technology and machinery for these recycled type of products is lacking in Sri Lanka. As a solution to this we have built a range of heavy machinery and molds by ourselves such as Plastic Extruding Machine, Plastic Shredder machines, and Paper rolling machines and molds etc. Machinery fabrication, mold design, research and development etc. were conceptualized, developed and established by us using local knowledge. Our production facility is established in rural area of Kandy, Sri Lanka namely Udaperadeniya.

Social Enterprise

Business operates as a social enterprise model where employees are working from their own homes and deliver the products made to the business. Earthbound Creations (Pvt) Ltd is more than a company. We’re a global maker‑to‑market movement. We’re a way for you to shop with intention for ethically-sourced wares and to share in the joy of connecting with makers. It is a fully home grown company and we have progressed from our humble beginnings employing just 3 people in 2013 to an employer of nearly 660 by 2018. We believe that creativity, innovation and community involvement, are a catalyst for better business. We’re not just passionate purveyors of Recycled handmade products, but everything else that goes with a deep community engagement. That’s the essence of what we will do – but it hardly tells the whole story.

Empower Women

Earthbound Creations has created a large number of self-employment opportunities for a number of villagers in Kandy while also creating a line of recycled products. Our Artisans are Tsunami affected and internally displaced women from the civil war in Sri Lanka. Through the production of these hand made eco-friendly and biodegradable crafts from recycled paper, and by earning fair trade wages, avenues to sustainable livelihoods are opening to these disenfranchised families.
